Granite Bay swimmer Alyssa Anderson played a part in helping Team USA to a gold-medal victory in the women's 4x200-meter freestyle relay at the Olympic Games in London on Wednesday.
Anderson, swimming in the preliminaries, helped the U.S. team that also included Lauren Perdue, Shannon Vreeland and Dana Vollmer to the second-fastest qualifying time. Anderson swam the third leg as the United States won the second heat in 7 minutes, 50.75 seconds.
Vollmer and Vreeland later joined Missy Franklin and Allison Schmitt in the finals to capture the gold medal in an Olympic record time of 7:42.92.
Anderson, a Granite Bay High graduate, was an All-American during her collegiate career at Arizona.
