BEES TOP RIVER CATS WITH WALK-OFF SINGLE
• Highlight: Nate Freiman’s hitting streak reached nine games with a three-run home run Sunday, but the Bees’ Brennan Boesch had an RBI single in the ninth inning to give host Salt Lake a 7-6 victory.
• Barton’s power surge: Daric Barton went 4 for 5 for Sacramento, scoring two runs and driving in three. Barton’s two-run homer in the fifth inning put the River Cats up 5-3. Barton’s RBI single in the seventh inning tied the score 6-6.
• Coming home: The River Cats open an eight-game homestand tonight against the Omaha Storm Chasers. Sacramento welcomes the Iowa Cubs for four games starting Friday. Manny Ramirez could be in uniform for Iowa by then – he was signed May 26 as a player-coach but has been at extended spring training.
• Today: River Cats RHP Dan Straily (3-0, 4.40 ERA) vs. Omaha LPH Ryan Verdugo (2-1, 5.11), 7:05 p.m., Raley Field.
