Placer United Soccer Club's Under-16 Prestige Girls Gold team defeated New Jersey state champion PDA Tsunami 4-3 in penalty kicks Tuesday to win the National Cup Championship at the U.S. Club Soccer National Cup Finals in Virginia Beach, Va.
Savannah Coiner of Rocklin scored the clinching goal for the Prestige with penalty kicks tied at 3-3 after a scoreless regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods.
Baseball – The Rocklin Junior League All-Stars, a team of 13- to 14-year-olds, defeated the Butte Northwest-Mile High team 10-0 in five innings, a game called because of the mercy rule. The squad wraps up pool play today against a team from Rancho Santa Margarita.
