Samantha Faber scored the winning goal on a free kick with 2:17 remaining to lift visiting UC Davis over Nevada 2-1 in a nonconference soccer match Sunday.
Gabina Bohlman also scored in the 44th minute for the Aggies (5-2-2), who won their fourth consecutive match, all on the road.
UCD outshot Nevada 14-6, holding the Wolf Pack to one second-half shot. But that second-half shot was Nevada's goal, by Erin Smith, 1:40 into the second half.
Sarah Peters made two saves for the Aggies and picked up her fifth win of the season.
The Wolf Pack remained winless at 0-7-2.
• The visiting Sacramento State women (4-5-1) had a three-match winning streak halted, losing 2-0 to Fresno State. The Bulldogs (3-7) outshot the Hornets 12-3. Molly Nizzoli (Galt High School) scored in the 34th minute, and Nicole Gutierrez (West Campus High School) scored in the 87th minute for Fresno State.
• Despite playing with only 10 players for the final 31 minutes, the host Sac State men tied Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 1-1. Both teams are 5-2-2. The Mustangs struck first on David Zamora's goal in the 18th minute. The Hornets tied it on Fernando Cabadas' penalty kick in the 49th minute. Sac State played short-handed after Josh Zimbrich was sent off the field in the 80th minute for drawing a red card on a tackle of Evan Richter. Cal Poly outshot Sac State 20-5 but put just five shots on goal.
Sacramento team wins national tennis title
A men's team from Sacramento, representing the United States Tennis Association Northern California, won the USTA 5.0 League Adult National Championships in Indian Wells. The Sacramento team, which beat Wichita, Kan., 2-1 in the final, was captained by Todd Stanley and included Chris Gerety, Joseph Gilbert, Patrick Rultz, Novak Nash, Ryan Juinio, Jordan Boyls and Matt Mancasola.
• A women's team from Sacramento, representing the USTA Northern California, finished second in the USTA League 4.0 Adult National Championships in Tucson, Ariz. The Sacramento team, which lost to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., 3-2 in the final, was captained by Dana Newell and included Cynthia Dean, Karin Bickel, Melissa Turton, Denise Hinchman, Julie Carter, Kimberly Becker, Rebecca Britton, Oriel Strickland, Kris Law, Kimberly Buffington and Lisa Rothfels.
