24 SECONDS WITH … RAPTORS GUARD ANTHONY PARKER

How often do you get asked about your sister Candace Parker and your brother- in-law Shelden Williams?

Often. Especially the day that we play Shelden in basketball. But it's fun, though. I enjoy it.

You don't get sick of being asked about your relatives, especially your sister? It's one thing to have a brother-in-law in the NBA. But do you get a lot of people throwing the Candace Parker card in your face in an unflattering way?

Occasionally you hear that, when you're visiting other arenas. … But it's fun. It doesn't get to me like maybe people think it would.

What do you hear most often?

"Your sister's better than you."

Not very original.

No. It's the same thing every time.

What does she say about all this? Does she feel bad?

No. … We joke, and we laugh about it. That's where it ends.

She's obviously in a unique situation because she's not just a good player. She's an excellent player who has gotten a lot of attention. Is that something in a sense that works against you?

Works against me?

As something for people to throw at you. In other words, if she was an average player, you wouldn't be hearing it.

I love the fact that she's who she is and she's done what she's done. I'm one of her biggest fans – obviously, a member of her family – and nobody could be more proud of what she's done and how she's handled everything. If one of the side effects of her success is that occasionally people say she's better than me, I'll take it every day.

When is the last time you guys played one-on-one?

Our schedules have been so crazy. Usually when we get together, it's just to work out and shoot. It's not a one-on- one situation. But I still can beat her one-on-one right now. In a couple years, when she's probably getting to that point when maybe she can beat me, I'll retire.

Do you trash talk when you beat her?

Oh, our family trash talks no matter what. Video games, whatever it is, trash talk has always been a huge part of what we do.

Did you know Shelden before he got serious with Candace?

I just knew of him. I knew of him at Duke. But I didn't know him.

When you're with him, do you talk basketball?

It's everything. Obviously when me, Shelden and Candace get together – and my other brother, for that matter – basketball's been a huge part of our lives and still is.

What You Should Know About Comments on Sacbee.com

Sacbee.com is happy to provide a forum for reader interaction, discussion, feedback and reaction to our stories. However, we reserve the right to delete inappropriate comments or ban users who can't play nice. (See our full terms of service here.)

Here are some rules of the road:

• Keep your comments civil. Don't insult one another or the subjects of our articles. If you think a comment violates our guidelines click the "report abuse" button to notify the moderators. Responding to the comment will only encourage bad behavior.

• Don't use profanities, vulgarities or hate speech. This is a general interest news site. Sometimes, there are children present. Don't say anything in a way you wouldn't want your own child to hear.

• Do not attack other users; focus your comments on issues, not individuals.

• Stay on topic. Only post comments relevant to the article at hand. If you want to discuss an issue with a specific user, click on his profile name and send him a direct message.

• Do not copy and paste outside material into the comment box.

• Don't repeat the same comment over and over. We heard you the first time.

• Do not use the commenting system for advertising. That's spam and it isn't allowed.

• Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.

You should also know that The Sacramento Bee does not screen comments before they are posted. You are more likely to see inappropriate comments before our staff does, so we ask that you click the "report abuse" button to submit those comments for moderator review. You also may notify us via email at feedback@sacbee.com. Note the headline on which the comment is made and tell us the profile name of the user who made the comment. Remember, comment moderation is subjective. You may find some material objectionable that we won't and vice versa.

If you submit a comment, the user name of your account will appear along with it. Users cannot remove their own comments once they have submitted them, but you may ask our staff to retract one of your comments by sending an email to feedback@sacbee.com. Again, make sure you note the headline on which the comment is made and tell us your profile name.
