Junior Jeremy Hines of Jesuit High School finished fifth in the men's shot put with a throw of 49 feet, 7 1/4 inches. Roddy Dash of Buhach Colony won with a throw of 52-9 3/4.
Junior Ashton Purvis of St. Elizabeth of Oakland, last year's girls athlete of the meet in track, was one of the many highlights, winning the women's 100- and 200-meter dashes. Purvis is the state leader in both, and she ran 11.88 seconds in the 100 and 24.46 seconds in the 200 Saturday.
