Regional Digest: No. 2 seed Kim falls in Tiburon pro tennis

Unseeded Go Soeda of Japan defeated second-seeded Kevin Kim of Newport Coast 7-5, 6-1 Saturday to reach the final of the $50,000 Royal Bank of Scotland Challenger in Tiburon.

Soeda will face unseeded Ilija Bozoljac of Serbia in today's noon final at the Tiburon Peninsula Club. Bozoljac advanced with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over unseeded Nick Lindahl of Australia.

• UC Davis' Noelle Eades and Shawdee Rouhafza reached the semifinals of their draw at the Saint Mary's Fall Invitational in Moraga.

Eades defeated USF's Blair Reed 6-0, 6-4, and Rouhafza beat Gonzaga's Britta Stime 6-3, 6-4.

Hornets win in cross country

Danzel Bradshaw placed seventh in 19 minutes, 20 seconds as the Sacramento State women's cross country team won the open race at the Santa Clara Invitational in Sunnyvale.

New Mexico State won the women's invitational race, while Sac State finished fourth.

Scott Grose and Chris Romo placed seventh (24:25) and eighth (24:46), respectively, to lead the Hornets to a sixth-place finish in the 8-kilometer men's invitational. Long Beach State won the title.

Sac State's Scott Case finished 27th (28:21) in the men's open race. The Hornets did not have enough entries for a team score.

Sac State loses in volleyball

Visiting Montana stopped the winning streak of the Sac State women's volleyball team at four with a 25-22, 25-23, 25-20 Big Sky Conference victory.

The Grizzlies (9-10, 5-3) assumed sole possession of fourth place halfway through the Big Sky season, and the Hornets (13-10, 4-4) dropped to fifth. The top four teams in the nine-member conference reach the Big Sky tournament.

• Kayla Varney tallied a team-high 18 kills and .382 hitting percentage, while Melanie Adams added 13 kills and two aces to lift UC Davis (15-7, 6-2 Big West Conference) to a 25-19, 23-25, 14-25, 25-21, 18-16 victory at UC Santa Barbara (14-5, 4-3).

UCD routed in field hockey

Midori Uehara scored three goals to lead No. 13 Stanford (12-2, 4-1 NorPac Conference) to an 11-1 victory over visiting UC Davis (3-11, 0-4).
