A fan's guide to what's new at Arco Arena

Arco Arena has received plenty of attention for being old. Sure, the building needs to be replaced, but don't think that means things are falling apart inside and out. Those who show up for the Kings' 2009-10 home opener against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night will find new options to eat, drink and wear. If you can't make it to the sold-out Grizzlies game, don't fret. The Kings are offering creative ticket packages to lure fans to the arena this season. It's not just about seeing the rookies (Tyreke Evans, Omri Casspi, Jon Brockman) and free-agent additions (Desmond Mason, Sean May), or if Sergio Rodríguez can make a difference during his first season in Sacramento. Sometimes, it's just about the food. Here's a guide to some of the new things you can find at Arco:

New places to eat

• Wings, Rings and Things: Grab some chicken wings, beer-battered onion rings, a corn dog or garlic fries here. (Main Concourse, Section 119)

• Crunch Time: There are sweet potato fries and funnel cake sticks, as well as corn dogs and garlic fries. (Main Concourse, Section 109)

• Blizzberry Self-Serve Frozen Yogurt: Help yourself to nonfat frozen yogurt with a variety of toppings. (Main Concourse, Section 104)

• All-Star Buffet in the Cantina: Venture to the top of Arco for a buffet with a salad bar, nacho bar, appetizers and pasta sauté. (Fourth Floor, Section 214)

• Kids Kart: For the smaller fan, there are pre-packaged snacks and candy along with Kings merchandise offered at kid-friendly prices. (Fourth Floor, Section 216)

• Fresh Made Margarita Bar: The adults can have Patrón margaritas, premium wines and fruit daiquiris. (Main Concourse, Section 103)

New food, familiar places

• Slammin' Sliders (BBQ Pork Sliders): Slow-cooked smoked pork, served with Chef Gary's homemade BBQ sauce. Three sliders per order. (Carvers Station – Main Concourse, Sections 107, 113 and 119)

• Kings Spirit Special: Special cocktails at a special price ($5) and available at all concourse cocktail bars.

• Chicken Chow Mein: For a different type of arena meal, there are freshly prepared stir-fried Asian noodles with chicken and vegetables. (BasketBowls – Main Concourse, Section 107)

• Italian Meat and Cheese Tray: For the classy fan. An antipasto tray with premium Italian meats and cheeses to complement a premium glass of wine. (Wine Bar – Main Concourse, Section 112)

Ticket deals

• Miller's Guys Night Out: Have an 18-ounce beer, Kings Dog and upper-bowl ticket for $27.50 or a 24-ounce beer, Kings Dog, popcorn and lower-bowl ticket for $80.

• Girls Night Out: For $27.50, you can have a wine and cheese/cracker plate and upper-bowl ticket. Get a wine and cheese/cracker plate and a lower-bowl ticket for $80.

• VIP Wine and Cheese Party: Gain access to the VIP Wine and Cheese Party before the game and two lower-bowl tickets for $180.

• Family Pack: Four upper-bowl tickets and help with the food costs with a $30 Food and Beverage Card for $99.

• Slamson's Value Deal: Game and grub – Arena Dog, soda, popcorn and upper-bowl ticket for $45. Or upgrade with a Kings Dog, Kings Soda, popcorn and lower-bowl ticket for $80.

Five hardest games to get into this season:

• Monday, home opener vs. Memphis, 7 p.m. (sold out).

• Dec. 23 vs. Cleveland, 7 p.m.

• Dec. 26 vs. L.A. Lakers, 7 p.m.

• Feb. 16 vs. Boston, 7 p.m.

• March 16 vs. Lakers, 7 p.m.

Shopping time

Five new items at the Sacramento Team Store you might want to grab:

• Black adult replica jersey: For days you don't want to wear the purple or the white Lifestyle Merchandise with contemporary styles and fashionable graphics.

• Build Your Bling: This is for the lady with unique style. Pick a garment (short-sleeved T-shirt, V-neck tee, long-sleeved tee or tank top), color and crystal logo (primary, Wordmark or crown) to customize your own item.

• Retro merchandise: Find this in Kings original blue and red, like the team wore 25 years ago.

• SKDT calendar: The first Kings Dance Team Swimsuit Calendar is sold out at the team store. Try finding it at participating Arco AM/PM stores.

New players

• G Tyreke Evans: The fourth overall pick in June's NBA draft is a key to the Kings' march back to respectability.

• F Omri Casspi: The Kings' second first-round pick is the first Israeli-born player in NBA history.

• F Jon Brockman: Second-round draft pick is a tough guy from the University of Washington.

• F Sean May: Looking to show he can play after injuries slowed this former University of North Carolina star for four seasons in Charlotte.

• G-F Desmond Mason: One of the NBA's most exciting athletes should be fun to watch on a fast break.
