Jeremey Conaway now has more equipment to keep him occupied and soothed.
Book of Dreams readers helped to purchase a portable spa, jump-and-play island and merry-go-round for the 16-year-old who is deaf, blind and unable to speak. His mother, Cyndi Conaway, said that finding entertaining things for her disabled son to do has become increasingly difficult since he's grown into a teenager.
The family lives in the small, rural Nevada County town of North San Juan, which has felt more isolating since the family's only means of transportation - a truck - was stolen a few months back.
Now, when Jeremey gets home from school, he's even more eager to play outside, but the family needed more age-appropriate toys for him. Jeremey also finds great comfort in taking baths. Since becoming taller, he's outgrown his family's small bathtub.
The portable spa is expected to help him immensely.
"I hope it will be soothing and relaxing," Cyndi Conaway said of the spa. "I'm counting on it to make him happy and soothe him. He loves the bathtub and he should love that."
