Creative activities keep clients busy

Clients at the Adult Day Health Care Center in Meadowview will soon have more activities to keep them busy and stimulated.

Book of Dreams readers purchased paint, paintbrushes, puzzles, memory stimulation tapes and other supplies for the physically disabled or cognitively impaired clients who visit the program.

"Everything that we ordered is to improve cognitive stimulation, fine motor coordination and to keep our participants busy," said Maria Andrade, activity coordinator at the Adult Day Health Center.

The center provides a social outlet, as well as a place where clients can hone their skills. Some clients are senior citizens who are suffering memory loss or dementia. Others are people with disabilities looking for socialization and physical assistance.

Clients work with aides to complete art projects and memory games or master other day-to-day living skills.

"Most of our clients, if we encourage them to do an activity, they'll do it," Andrade said.
