A world-class ballet company with a distinctive repertoire, Dance Theatre of

This one-day event takes place in the CSUS Student Union. It is facilitated by

February 14 - Magnificent Mozart
The Sacramento Philharmonic pays tribute to the Mozart much
loved by audiences and musicians. Featuring Serenade No. 9 in D Major
("Post Horn"), Violin Concerto No. 3 in G Major, and Piano Concerto
No. 27 in B Flat. The concert is scheduled on Saturday, February 14 at 8 p.m.
February 19 - Giselle
The Sacramento Ballet presents this classic performance with
music by Adolphe Adam from Thursday, February 19 through Sunday, February 22 at
the Sacramento Community Center Theater.
February 28 - William Glackin
Memorial Tribute Concert
The William Glackin Memorial Tribute Concert will honor Bill Glackin, arts critic
for The Sacramento Bee. Proceeds from the event will create a fund for musical
instruments for Sacramento public schools. Members of the Sacramento Ballet,
the Sacramento Opera, and the Sacramento Philharmonic will participate in the
performance. The event will be held on Saturday, February 28 at the Sacramento
Community Center Theater. Tickets can be purchased at the Community Center Box
Office.

Evening with Oscar
Sacramento's glitziest night of the year and the area's only official
Academy Awards party sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and
Sciences. Proceeds will benefit area HIV/AIDS organizations.

In partnership with The Sacramento Bee, the Sacramento Area
Human Resources Association (SAHRA), is honoring outstanding workplaces in the
greater Sacramento area. Winners will be announced at a special awards dinner

The River Cats season begins on Sunday, April 4. The

April 25 -- Festival de la Familia
This one-day event has a rich history in Sacramento of celebrating all Latino
cultures. Attendees can view exhibits and demonstrations, experience live
entertainment and sample a myriad of tantalizing foods. $4 admission for
adults. Over 60 and under 12 free. The event is held at Cal Expo and is open
from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
MAY
May 1 - Elk Grove Western
Festival
This year will mark Elk Grove's 45th annual Western
Festival. The two-day event is held in beautiful Elk Grove Park. The parade has
over 200 floats, bands, and antique car entries and is open to everyone.
May 5 - Comite Patriotico Mexicano
Cinco de Mayo is a culturally-rich celebration that symbolizes the strength and will of the Mexican people. Mexico's culture will be showcased through cultural dances, authentic costumes and Mariachi music at the celebration. Valley Komen Race for The Cure®
The Komen Race for the Cure® is the largest series of 5K
runs and fitness walks in the world, and is open to everyone who wants to help
in the fight against breast cancer. Proceeds fund global research efforts and
local breast health and breast cancer outreach programs. At every race event
breast cancer survivors celebrate their survivorship by donning pink caps and
T-shirts. This is Sacramento's largest run/walk with more than 18,000 entrants

The Jubilee is the world's largest and greatest traditional
jazz festival, attracting more than 100,000 people to hear its invited
musicians perform during the Memorial Day Weekend in Sacramento.

June - Filipino Fiesta 2004
The annual Filipino Fiesta highlights art in songs,
paintings, food, and various activities such as the Barrio Life which
highlights the Filipino culture.

June - Meadowview Cultural Jazz Fest
The Meadowview Jazz and Cultural Festival began in 1993.
Since then this annual Jazz Concert has drawn national and local performers,
such as Patti Austin. It includes multicultural food and retail vendors.

As in years past, the day's activities include a parade, 5K
run, pancake breakfast, food, craft, and activity booths, live entertainment,

July - Strauss Festival of Elk Grove
The Strauss Festival blends a professional 32-piece orchestra with colorfully
costumed dances to create an annual outdoor classical event that the entire
family can enjoy together. It showcases the light classical music of the Johann
Strauss family while using originally choreographed dances to advance a story

McClatchy Park is the place for free musical fun for the

This free event allows local artists to display their creativity on large

September -- Children’s Book Celebration
The Children's Book Celebration is held in Fairytale Town. The Bee Book Club
brings numerous children's authors to share their books and illustrations with
the children and families present. Their books are sold at the event, and the
authors are available to sign them. There are also storytellers, and book
characters wandering through Fairytale town for photos, and puppet theatre for
children to enjoy. William Land Park.
September 20-26-- Longs Drugs Golf Challenge
This marks the first year at the new home of the tournament, The Ridge Golf Course. Players, volunteers and fans are sure to be excited about the new venue, while the great golf will stay the same.

This community celebration attracts more than 30,000 children, adults and
seniors. It features entertainment, pony & train rides, arts & crafts,
children's games, craft fair, swimming, petting zoo and more. Everything is
free except food booths and craft fair vendors. Rusch Park.
September 30 -- Prelude to the Season
This annual luncheon extravaganza launches the arts season and honors the
businesses, organizations and volunteers who contribute meaningfully to the
arts in Sacramento. Awards are given in the categories of Business Support for
the Arts, Individual Leadership, Arts Excellence, Business/Arts Partnership and
Business volunteer for the Arts of the Year.
OCTOBER
October 2 -- Niello Councours at Serrano
The inaugural Concours at Serrano will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2004 on the green at the Serrano Visitors Center and will benefit local children charities. The day of the Concours will be a culmination of car enthusiast activities, which will occur during the week proceeding.
October 2 -- Loomis Eggplant Festival
Aside from the food booths, there are more than 100 vendors of arts and crafts, a newly added home and garden show, farmers market, and business showcase. Fun activities are planned for the kids and McLaughlin Studio will be providing live entertainment.
October 2 & 3 -- Elk Grove Community Harvest & Giant Pumpkin Festival
This is a community event in Elk Grove Regional Park features a full day of
family fun celebrating the agricultural heritage of Elk Grove and raises funds
for community groups. Festivities includes a pancake breakfast, a giant pumpkin
and produce weigh-off, scarecrow contest, hay and pony rides, pig races, a
children's carnival, live music, crafts, food and more. Free. Elk Grove
Regional Park.
October 5 - The Sacramento Bee’s Kids Day
Each year on kids day, thousands of community volunteers take to the streets to sell a special edition of The Sacramento Bee. The newspaper is wrapped with a special section written by The Bee newsroom showcasing Shriners Hospitals and it special programs and personal triumphs. This Kids Day edition is only available on this day through volunteers or special advance orders. The newspapers are sold for $1, with 75 cents going directly to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
October 9 - 10 -- American River Salmon Festival
The American River Salmon Festival is a two-day family event featuring
educational, recreational, cultural, artistic, and culinary activities of the
festival will celebrate salmon and highlight the wonders and importance of the
river, its watershed, and adjoining American River Parkway and State Park

November 14 - Westfield Works Wonders
On this special day, Galleria at Roseville will open its doors to the thousands of customers looking to give back to the community and have a great time as well. November 25 -- Run to Feed the Hungry
Run to Feed the Hungry is a Thanksgiving Day, and Sacramento's largest fun run.
More than 10,000 participants make this a great way to start Thanksgiving with
walk or run that begins at Sacramento State University and turns through
beautiful East Sacramento. All proceeds from the event benefit the Sacramento
Food Bank Services.
DECEMBER
December 5 -- California International Marathon
The 26.2 mile event begins near Folsom Dam and continues through the
neighboring communities of Orangevale, Fair Oaks, and Carmichael. The course
also crosses through the American River, and passes by historic Sutter's Fort-
making its final miles through midtown Sacramento. The event draws local,
national, and international runners.
