The Sacramento Region (encompassing the four counties of Sacramento, Placer, Yolo and El Dorado) is home to 2,102,212 residents. Between 2000 and 2007 the region’s population grew by 17% adding over 305,000 residents – in the next five years (through 2012) the region is projected to grow population by an additional 10.7%.
The Region also boasts more than 777,000 households with a projected growth rate through 2012 of 10.7%. Currently median income stands at $56,140 per year with 55% of households earning in excess of $50,000 per year, 35% of area households earn over $75,000 annually.
Over 67% of area households are classified as families, with a Region wide average household size of 2.66.
