The site was used for flying school training as a auxiliary field to Chico Army Airfield. Improvements made at the site included three buildings, roads, a mesh fence, and utilities. The base was deactivated on 20 November 1946, and 359.62 fee acres were turned over to the War Assets Administration. Records do not indicate any restrictions, recapture clauses, or restoration provisions. Based on the foregoing findings of fact, the site has been determined to be formerly used by the Department of Defense. Therefore, it is eligible for the Defense Environmental Restoration Program for Formerly Used Defense Sites established under 10 U.S.C. 2701 et seq.

Willows Municipal Airport318.20WillowsIn 1942, 318.20 lease acres were acquired by the War Department from Glenn County, CA. The site was used as an auxiliary airfield for Chico Army Air Base. The site was declared surplus on 8 February 1942. The site comprising Willows Municipal Airport is now owned by various public and private entities. Based on the foregoing, the site has been determined to be formerly used by the DOD and is eligible for the Defense Environmental Restoration Program for Formerly Used Defense Sites established under 10 U.S.C. 2701 et seq.
