| Camp Miramar | 6298.00 | Half Moon Bay | On 21 April 1943, the War Department leased a total of 6.298 acres from various property owners and a no area permit was issued from the State of California Division of Highways for installation of water and sewer lines. The site was known as Miramar Lake, Miramar Hotel and Miramar School, and Camp Miramar, San Mateo County, CA. The site was used as a campsite in the 6th Army area. Several buildingswere constructed on the site. The leases were terminated between September and December 1944 and the permit was terminated on 6 May 1952. There is no information regarding restoration of the site. Based on the foregoing findings of fact, the site has been determined to be formerly used by the Department of Defense (DoD). Therefore, it is eligible for the Defense Environmental Restoration Program for Formerly Used Defense Sites, established under 10 U.S.C. 2701 et seq. |
| Half Moon Bay Radar L-82 | 39.18 | Half Moon Bay | Prior to 1943 the US Government acquired 3.891 permit acres and 35.297 lease acres. Total acreage acquired for the subject site was 39.188. The site was known as VHF Site 4K5 Half Moon Bay, VHF (Radar) site 4K5 (Half Moon Bay); and VHF Site 4K5, CA. The site was situated in San Mateo County, one and one-half miles south of Half Moon Bay. The site was used by the Air Force as a radar site. Improvements included two concrete buildings, a concrete radar tower base, an abandoned aboveground tank support and an underground storage tank. Lease acres were terminated as follows: 6.951 lease acres terminated on 15 Aug. 1948, 0.138 lease acres terminated 31 October 1948, 0.138 lease acres terminated 4 April 1949, 6.80 lease acres terminated 31 May 1952, 15.37 lease acres terminated 30 June 1952, 5.90 lease acres terminated 27 Octover 1952. Permit acres were terminated as follows: 1.65 license acres terminated 31 July 1949, 0.014 license acres terminated 3 December 1952, 0.027 license acres terminated 20 Dec. 1952, .060 license acres terminated 25 Dec. 1952, and 2.14 license acres terminated 3 Feb. 1953. |
| Half Moon Bay Flight Strip | 340.22 | Half Moon Bay | By authorization dated 15 October 1942, the War Department acquired 217.68 acres by fee, 11.78 by lease, and 110.76 by transfer. The total number of acres was 340.22. In addition, 47 "no area" glide angle permits were obtained under license agreement. The site was known as Half Moon Bay Flight Strip, San Mateo County, CA. The site was used by the Dept. of the Army as a flight strip and associated glide angle clearance and sewer line right of way. Improvements included a flight strip, barracks, hangers, two underground fuel tanks, seven concrete fuel pump pits and two concrete sumps. The leased acres were terminated from 27 June to 13 July 1944, 110.76 acres were retransferred to Federal Works Agency on 12 April 1946, and 217.68 acres were excessed to the War Assets Administration on 4 Feb. 1947. |
| Dibble General Hospital | 140.09 | Menlo Park | On 3 January 1943, the War Department acquired 128.15 fee acres from Wells Fargo Bank & Union Trust Co and 11.94 lease acres from Claude Lindsay. The site was used as a 2,700 bed veterans hospital. On 31 October 1945, 7.52 lease acres were terminated, returning the land to Mr. Lindsay. On 31 July 146, 127.27 fee acres and 4.42 lease acres were turned over to the Federal Public Housing Authority (FPHA), who returned the 4.42 lease acres to the owner. On 5 August 1946, 0.88 fee acre was turned over to the War Assets Administration (WAA). On 7 May 1947, the FPHA conveyed 41.607 fee acres to the WAA. The remaining 85.644 were retained by the FPHA. Between 21 November 1947 and 19 April 1949, the WAA quitclaimed 42.533 acres (it only had 42.487 to dispose of) to various entities. Based on the foregoing, the site has been determined to be formerly used by the DOD and is eligible for the Defense Environmental Restoration Program for Formerly Used Defense Sites, established under 10 U.S.C. 2701 et seq. |

| San Francisco Nike Battery 51 Milagra Ridge | 330.10 | Pacifica | In 1942, the U.S. acquired 327.97 fee acres, 0.58 license acres, and 1.46 easement acres for the Milagra Ridge Military Reservation. The U.S. Army Air Defense Command used the site as a Nike Missile site, fire control fog station, and a launcher and administrative area of Nike Site SF-51. Between 11 July 1946 and 10 May 1962, 73.11 acres were disposed of. In 1972, 36.48 acres were declared excess and transferred to the Department of the Interior which then transferred the property to the City of Pacifica in May 1974. The 73.11 acres disposed of in 1962 are currently privately held. The U.S. retained 220.42 acres. | San Francisco Nike Battery 51 Sweeney Ridge | 14.12 | Pacifica | The site is located seven miles west of San Bruno in the town of Pacifica, California. In 1954 through 1958, the government acquired 9.92 lease acres from the Consumer Ice Company and 4.2 easement acres from the Presiding Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a private owner on 23 July 1970 and 3 November 1969, respectively. The site was used for the assembly, launching, and control of guided missiles. According to the license, the government agreed to remove Department of Defense (DoD)-installed installations and appurtances and to restore the premises to near-original conditions. On 17 October 1974, .44 acre was terminated and another .56 acre was terminated on 22 June 1959. The 4.2 easement acres were reported excess on 14 July 1975. The lease for the 8.92 acres expired on 17 October 1974 and reverted to Texas International, et al. The lessor waived all claims for the restoration of the property, however settlement of restoration was included in the litigation. The Department of Interior, Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) acquired the 8.92 acres on 15 February 1984 from the Texas International Company. Based on the foregoing, the site has been determined to be formerly used by the DoD and is therefore eligible for the Department of Environmental Restoration, Formerly Used Defense Sites Program established under 10 U.S.C. 2701 et seq. |
