D-q University647.90DavisIn July 1952, 647.90 fee acres and 3.65 easement acres were acquired by the Department of the Army. Before acquisition, the land was used for dry farming, production of hay, grain and pasture. During DOD use, the site was a relay and radio transmitting station. On 8 December 1969, the property was reported excess to the General Services Administration (GSA). On 28 January 1971, the Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration conveyed 4.85 fee acres by quitclaim deed to Yolo County. On 2 April 1971, the Department of Health, Education and Welfare conveyed 643.05 fee acres and 3.65 easement acres by quitclaim deed to Deganawidah-Quetzalcoatl University, Inc. Based on the foregoing, the site has been determined to be formerly used by the DOD and is eligible for the Defense Environmental Restoration Program for Formerly Used Defense Sites established under 10 U.S.C. 2701 et seq.
Yolo County Airport510.00DavisBy use permit from the U.S. Public Roads Asministration, dated 3 November 1943, 201.58 acres were transferred to the War Department. An additional 308.57 acres in total were acquired by the War Department by Declaration of Taking between 1942 and 1943, for a total 510.15 acres. The site was used as a flight strip to provide alternate basing for B25 aircraft normally located at McClellan Air Force Base. Site improvements included a runway, taxiways, two aircraft fueling areas, an operations area, control tower, bomb storage area, and a housing area. The use permit for 201.58 acres was relinquished to the Public Roads Administration (PRA) on 12 April 1946. The remaining 308.57 acres transferred to the War Assets Administration (WAA) on 21 September 1946. A total of 294.40 acres were transferred by quitclaim deed from the WAA on 14 June 1948, along with the 201.58 acres from the PRA, to the County of Yolo for use as an airport. The remaining 14.17 acres from the WAA reverted to the original owners. The quitclaim deed includes a recapture clause. The 495.98-acre site is currently owned by the County of Yolo and utilized as the Yolo County Airport. The 14.17 acre portion of the site is owned by St. Mary's College and used for agriculture. Based on the foregoing findings of fact, the site has been determined to be formerly used by the Department of Defense (DoD). Therefore, it is eligible for the Defense Restoration Program for Formerly Used Defense Sites, established under 10 U.S.C. 2701 et seq.
Wilson Park Davis Communication Annex639.20DavisThe Wilson Park site (50 acres) was purchased by the U.S. as part of a much larger parcel (639.2 acres) between September and December 1951. The Wilson Park area was initially farmland, before being used as part of the Air Force's Davis Communications Annex, a large radio transmitter site and antenna farm. It was released to Yolo County, and subsequently leased out for use as a public park. on 12 June 1972, 323.2 fee acres were reported excess to GSA. This acreage included 50 acres which became Wilson Park. on 13 July 1973, the U.S. quitclaimed that acreage to Yolo County for public use only. The remainder of the 639.2 acres remains an active Air Force installation. Based on the foregoing, the site has been determined to be formerly used by the DOD and is eligible for the Defense Environmental Restoration Program for Formerly Used Defense Sites, established under 10 U.S.C. 2701 et seq.
Sacramento Engineering Depot27.80West SacramentoThe entire 27.8 acres were surplused 31 July 1947 and the lease cancelled effective 31 October 1947. It is unknown if Sacramento Northern Railway took back the property of if another interest was involved. Also, it is unknown whether there was a recapture clause or restoration provisions. Structures were used during DOD leases as warehouse, shop and office space. There is no other evidence of unsafe debris, hazardous or toxic waste, or unexploded ordnance from DOD use. Based on the foregoing Findings of Fact, the site has been determined to be formerly used by Department of Defense. It is therefore eligible for the Defense Environmental Restoration Program -Formerly Used Defense Site Established under 10 U.S.C. 2701 et seq.
Sacramento District Engineer Yard-weir Area2.00West SacramentoThe 2.0 fee acre site was established prior to 01 Jan. 1943 and was known as the Sacramento District Engineer Yard-Weir Area. The site was used by the Army for unspecified river and harbor purposes. Any improvements were not documented. On 11 August 1954, 2.0 fee acres were conveyed to the Sacramento and San Joaquin Drainage District. There were no recapture provisions.
