The 49ers got a head-start on Tuesday's deadline to reduce rosters to 75 players. They announced today they have released K Alex Romero, cornerbacks Carlos Thomas and Jahi Word-Daniels and receivers Chris Francies and Mark Bradford. A Stanford product, Bradford spent time on the practice squad last year. ... The 49ers currently have 74 players on the roster and would be at 75 if/when Michael Crabtree signs. The Bengals' first-round pick, Andre Smith, signed his contract today, making Crabtree the league's lone first rounder who has yet to sign.
