There's no under-selling how tough today's loss was for the 49ers. The one thing the 49ers can be assured in, however, is that their head coach won't let it fester. Most NFL stadiums -- stadia for you Latin freaks -- have a post-game interview room that's separate from the locker room. For the Vikings' visitors, that room is in the locker room, which meant that the reporters were privy to some of Singletary's words:
"Guys -- listen up," he told his team. "Let me tell you all something. You have nothing to be looking at the floor for. You didn't steal anything. You didn't do anything wrong." And as far as Brett Favre and the Vikings. "You will see them again in the playoffs," Singletary said.
As far as injuries, the 49ers definitely got bit today. Frank Gore, of course, strained or re-strained his right ankle. LT Joe Staley has a right knee contusion he suffered from a leg whip, LG David Baas has a left ankle sprain, safety Reggie Smith has a right groin strain, LB Jeff Ulbrich has a right quad contusion and CB Dre Bly has a right toe contusion. ... The NFL Network is saying that Gore suffered a high-ankle sprain. The 49ers, through a spokesman, insist it's an ankle strain.
