Welcome to Houston, the city where the roads go on forever and eventually intersect themselves. (Got lost) I'm sitting high up in the Reliant Stadium press box. This is an impressive structure. But I was a little saddened to how it overpowered its next-door-neighbor, the Astrodome, which in my day -- yes, I'm that old -- was billed as the Eighth Wonder of the World. It seems kind of dumpy today. (see: below) By the way, the Reliant roof is open today for the first time this season.

Inactives: The 49ers have seven WRs on their roster. Three of them -- Brandon Jones, Jason Hill and Micheal Spurlock -- are inactive today. That can't make Jones, who is making starter's money, very happy. The other inactives are Cody Wallace, Ricky Jean-Francois, Michael Lewis, Reggie Smith and Nate Davis. The 49ers did not announce a 3rd QB.
Mark Roman will start at SS in place of Lewis. the team announced that LB Matt Wilhem has changed his number from 50 to 57 ....
