49ers Blog and Q&A

News, notes and reader questions about the San Francisco 49ers

Kentwan Balmer (shoulder) and Marcus Hudson (back) are perhaps the most significant inactives for today's game. Look for Demetric Evans and Ray McDonald to get extra reps along the defensive line and for rookie Ricky Jean-Francois to see some action. Look for CB Keith Smith to take over Hudson's rather significant role on special teams. The other inactives are:

CB Nate Clements (shoulder) He won't be back until the finale Jan. 3.
LB Diyral Briggs
C Cody Wallace
WR Isaac Bruce (ankle)
T Joe Staley (knee) Look for Staley to return next week
Nate Davis is the 3rd QB

For the Seahawks, the inactives are:
LB D.D. Lewis
G Mike Gibson
G Mansfield Wrotto (he's the guy the Seahawks picked with the draft pick they received from the 49ers in the Darrell Jackson trade)
DT Red Bryant
TE Cameron Morrah
DE Cory Redding
DT Derek Walker
Mike Teel is the 3rd QB

It looks like Josh Morgan will continue to return kickoffs for the 49ers; Brandon Jones, Arnaz Battle and Reggie Smith are practicing punt returns.

The weather right now is mostly cloudy and 35 degrees (the press box is 37 degrees). The wind is from the SSE at 6 mph.
