Some of you have been asking for a list of players who will be unrestricted free agents regardless if there is a new collective bargaining agreement or not. Here's a partial list of those players. Because it's so copious, I limited today's post to offense and I didn't include positions -- receiver, center, running back -- the 49ers will have minimal interest in. The four positions I included are quarterback, where Mike Singletary said he'd consider making an addition this offseason, guard and tackle, where the 49ers arguably need the most help, and tight end, where the team must add a player with blocking ability. You'll notice it's pretty slim pickings at most of these positions ...

MATTHEW BARROWS

Matt was born in Blacksburg, Va., and attended the University of Virginia. He graduated in 1995, went to Northwestern for a journalism degree a year later, and got his first job at a South Carolina daily in 1997. He joined The Bee as a Metro reporter in 1999 and started covering the 49ers in 2003. His favorite player of all time is Darrell Green.
