49ers Blog and Q&A

News, notes and reader questions about the San Francisco 49ers

Four 49ers assistants will help run combine drills in the coming days, giving them a nice, first-hand look at some of the players the team might draft in April. Perhaps the most significant is offensive line coach Mike Solari, who will help run the offensive line drills. The 49ers are expected to take an offensive tackle early in the draft. Meanwhile, Tom Rathman will work with the running backs, Vance Joseph with the defensive backs and Jason Tarver with the outside linebackers and 'tweener defensive ends. It's a job Tarver, one of the most likable guys on the staff, has had in Indianapolis in previous years.
