The latest update from the Department of Finance suggests that the state has at least stopped the bleeding from its revenue forecasts. Tax dollars in February came in pretty much in line with expectations after a horrible December and January. They were $51 million above the forecast of $4.049 billion. Within that number, corporate tax revenues were down a bit, sales taxes were up a little and income taxes were pretty much on the mark. One piece of bright economic news in the report: revised job numbers for 2006 show that the state's employers created a net of 260,000 new jobs last year, up from an original estimate of 170,000.
