Q: whatever happened to Hector Whitley, the man accused of taking money for fixing DUIs?


A: The case is expected to go to a jury today, Oct. 10, in Sacramento Superior Court. Whitley faces multiple charges in connection with allegedly offering DUI defendants an opportunity to have cases dismissed with the help of someone Whitley knew in exchange for money.

Fernando Catlin, a former Sacramento Superior Court clerk, was sentenced last month to five years in prison for altering court records associated with driving-under-the- influence cases for financial payoff.

Investigators connected seven false DUI case dismissals to court orders and computer entries by Catlin, who was responsible for data entry for active DUI cases while a Superior Court clerk, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Investigators identified Whitley as the person who allegedly was working with Catlin.
