From Niesha Lofing:
A quiet Rocklin neighborhood woke to gunfire early Sunday after three people who were followed there from a Sacramento nightclub were shot at, the alleged victims of random robbery.
Rocklin police received an emergency call at 2:07 a.m. Sunday of gunshots fired at a vehicle, Sgt. Jamie Knox stated in a news release.
The female victim told police that she and two friends were leaving the Tropicana nightclub on Arden Way in Sacramento earlier that night when they noticed a vehicle following them from the club to Interstate 80, he said.
The vehicle continued to follow the victims to Rocklin. When the victims stopped the vehicle on South Grove Street, an occupant in the other vehicle, a black Lincoln Navigator, got out of the car and fired a pistol at the victims' vehicle, Knox said.
The victims then drove away and were able to elude the Navigator, which had attempted to follow them again.
No one was injured in the shooting.
Rocklin police located the Navigator near Pacific Street and Rocklin Road within a few minutes of the emergency call, arrested three people and found a small-caliber handgun, he said.
Police say they believe the three people arrested "randomly targeted the victims in Sacramento with the intention of robbing them," Knox said in the release.
Residents in the South Grove Street neighborhood told police they heard gunshots during the time in which the crime allegedly occurred.
Felipe Ortega, 26, of Sacramento, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a firearm, shooting at an occupied motor vehicle and conspiracy to commit robbery, attempted robbery and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Omar Lozano Villicana, 18, of Sacramento, was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Mirna Corral, 35, of Sacramento, was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Rocklin police at (916) 625-5400.
