No, there is no truth to the rumor that I took out a subprime mortgage to launch The Hot House.
Yet after a short year of blogging and 141 entries, I've decided to mothball this endeavor. It’s been fun tangling with climate change doubters and dinging the governor for his free-flying ways. But has become all too apparent in recent months, I just don’t have the time to regularly feed this blog and handle other responsibilities, like writing one or two editorials each day.
As a friend once told me: “Starting a blog is like buying a puppy. You have to feed it at least twice a day, and the more you feed it, the bigger and hungrier it gets.”
I should have listened.
Thanks to all of you who sent notes and tips my way, or were impassioned about carbon credits, the EPA waiver or other wonky stuff. I’m especially grateful that some of you fell for my April Fools Joke. Come on, did you really believe that Schwarzenegger was planning to move his family to Sacramento, downsize his lifestyle and ride a bike to work?
I’ll still be writing about the state’s climate policies on the editorial pages of The Bee. So keep reading. And who knows, maybe I launch another blog one day.
Who can resist a puppy?
