State revenues exceeded forecasts by $471 million in October and are now up by more than $1 billion for the first four months of the fiscal year, according to the Department of Finance. Much of the gain is attributed to a surge in corporate tax revenue. You can see the department's full report here.

A UC Berkeley team of researchers is joining the fray over e-voting and possible fraud, suggesting in a report this morning that more than 200,000 votes in the 2004 presidential election in Florida might be open to question because of suspicious patterns in votes recorded electronically versus those cast on paper.
