ha_prep_vball019.JPGIRVINE -- The Christian Brothers girls volleyball program will lose 10 seniors following today's noon CIF Division IV state championship match against La Jolla Country Day, but none that have seen and done all that outside hitter Erika Cuevas has.

Cuevas is the only Falcon to have played on the varsity squad at Christian Brothers all four years. Today she ends a career in which she has smashed over 500 kills, each one followed by her signature fist pump.

Cuevas is one of few players that can match -- if not exceed -- coach Jeff Deter's intensity and it's no surprise that she has been a leader in the two years Deter has had the program.

But don't expect Cuevas to be content with just making it back. She and the rest of the Falcons are here to win.

"I don't think just playing in three championship matches is any kind of reward -- it's more of a let-down," she said. "I'm hungry for this ... we all are."
