Injury updates

Being around the Raiders theses days requires one to study up on medical terminology.

But there's no time for that, so here's the latest on three of the Raiders' most pressing injuries from the players themselves.

QB JaMarcus Russell (bone bruise, right knee)

Russell said he aggravated the knee from falling on it during games, but only recently did it become too painful.

He sat out yesterday's game.

"Actually I did it again in practice a few days ago," he said. "Then the next day just practicing on it and trying to plant and push off on it one time and there was too much pain on it and it like shot through my leg."

RB Darren McFadden (turf toe)

He didn't try to play yesterday and missed his third straight game. And he won't try to use medicine to get on the field.

"Nah, I ain't taking no shot," McFadden said. "The last time I took a shot (Buffalo), it made it worse on me, so that's something I'm not gonna do again."

Defensive end Derrick Burgess (triceps)

He's missed five straight games with a slight tear in his triceps.

"I'm a football player," Burgess said. "That's what I do but, you know, everything happens for a reason so I take it for what it is. When I get healthy, I get healthy and I'll get back. Until then, there's nothing I can do about it."

Burgess said he is feeling better.

"It's way more weight bearing so that's good," Burgess said. "I don't have any pain. We just want to make sure we do the right thing."

Tom Cable will update the media on when the players are expected back shortly.
