Walker done for the season

ALAMEDA -- Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker said Thursday he is out for the season and that he needs surgery on his left ankle.

"I'm done for the season," Walker said as he left the locker room on crutches and a boot on his left foot. "They've got to put some screws in."

When asked if he was serious, Walker said, "yeah."

Raiders interim head coach Tom Cable was unavailable for comment as Walker was seen after Cable had addressed the media.

Walker was deemed "doubtful" for Sunday's game in Miami by Cable on Wednesday.

Walker injured his ankle during Sunday's 17-6 loss to the Carolina Panthers but finished the game.

"That's what they don't see," Walker said. "How tough you have to be."

Walker has 15 catches for 196 yards and a touchdown this season. He was signed to a seven-year, $55 million deal in the offseason. He received an $11 million bonus when he signed.

(update: Walker's deal is for six years)
