Offensive lineman Junius Coston signed with the Raiders today. To make room on the roster, the team cut fullback Jason Davis.
Offensive lineman/defensive lineman Fred Wakefield was also waived from injured reserve.
Coston is in his fourth season out of North Carolina A&T. He was with the Green Bay Packers and was released with an injury settlement after going on injured reserve with a knee injury before the start of the season.
Coston (6-3, 313) played in 13 games last season with seven starts.
He was a fifth-round draft pick in 2005 and can play all five line positions.
In trying to find some information on Coston, I found this quote from Packers coach Mike McCarthy on Coston after his release.
"I'll be surprised if he's not on a roster," McCarthy said. "Body type. Length. Athletic ability. Knee bend. He's got all the attributes."
That Davis was let go probably means Michael Bush is the backup fullback whether he wants to be or not.
Luke Lawton is the only fullback on the roster.
