Due to the economic impact of the furloughs on employees’ pay, the Human Resources Division (HRSD) is experiencing a significant increase in requests to change payroll deductions. The Personnel Transactions staff has several processing deadlines that must be met to ensure employees are paid properly and on time and receive their benefits and leave credits each month. Understandably, in light of the current environment, employees are very concerned about every aspect of their pay and benefits and want to be assured that transactions are processed timely. With this in mind, HRSD is requesting your patience as we implement temporary processing changes as a result of the increase in our work volume.
Effective immediately, please allow at least 48 hours for our Personnel Transactions staff to respond to phone and e-mail inquiries. The increased volume of inquiries about document processing significantly reduces the time we have to actually process the documents. Please be assured that our staff is working as quickly as possible to process all transactions in a timely manner. Once a document has been processed, a copy will be returned to confirm that processing is complete. If copies are not received within five (5) days after the master payroll cut off date, contact your Personnel Specialist.
Effective March through May 2009, please submit your documents (i.e., Employee Action Requests (EARs) for tax withholding, etc.) by the 15th of each month to ensure processing by the master payroll cut off date. Documents received after the 15th of the month will be processed by the master payroll cut off date for the following pay period. The Insider will have all master payroll cut off dates posted monthly as well as any future updates to deadlines. If you have any questions about these temporary process changes, please contact
Jennifer Ahlstrom, Personnel Transactions Unit Manager, at ext. 3-9006.
Thank you for your assistance and cooperation.
