It's going to be another busy weekend, especially for shoppers looking for good deals and great gifts. Among other things, it's Second Saturday.
Here's a list of doings from Sac to Davis:
* Trunk show: Five Figs Couture (803 Second St.) in Davis is featuring antique jewelry by designer Bonnie Krupp during a show from 2 to 9:30 p.m. today. (One of her bracelets is shown above.) During the evening hours, there will be live cello music with musician Priscilla Hawkins. For more information: (530) 756-3500.
* More jewels: Over at Pavilions, Franco Ferrini will host a variety of trunk shows featuring some of the store's most popular brands. Things get started with a weekend show (today, Saturday and Sunday) loaded with Pandora jewelry. These are the bracelets and necklaces (shown right) that you add to - kind of like charms. For this show, purchases are tax free and customers will get a free silver bead of their choice with the purchase of one gold one.
Also today only at Franco, jewelry designer Linda Babcock of Good Karma ("Jewelry With a Past") will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to show her collection, which specializes in taking your personal photographs and turning them into works of art, including necklaces and belt buckles - obviously all one-of-a-kind. For more information: (916) 927-3336.
* It's the Second: Fools Foundation in midtown will be the locale for Second Saturday's Sellout Buyout, from 3 to 10 p.m. The event will feature more than 20 "utilitarian" artists and indie designers and all their handmade goods. Olipom on 21st Street sponsors the event, and it's cold hard cash only. Fools Foundation is at 1025 19th St., in the basemen,t next door to the Old Spaghetti Factory. For more information: (916) 442-4470.
