Hair-raising day

Samy haircare products.JPGIf you're out and about in Sacramento today and are finding yourself chewing on your hair because of the wind (gusts up to 27 mph, we hear), a good dousing of heavy-duty hairspray is one way to keep your coif in place.

I know this sounds rudimentary, but having even a small bottle of spray (we suggest Samy, pictured at left) in your bag can keep you from looking like you got caught in a wind tunnel. (And it works nicely if you find a pesky hole in your hosiery, too.) Look for the words "firm hold" or "super hold" on the packaging.

And, yes, Final Net is still around.

get_wrapped.JPGAnother fashionable option is to wear a scarf that you might normally be tying around your neck. No, you won't look like someone traveling through Siberia. Scarves actually were meant to be worn around the head.

A tip: Place the scarf over the top of your head, then wrap it around your neck and let the ends fall down your back. Tying it under your chin does have somewhat of a Cossack look to it.

If all else fails, just tell everyone the touseled look is in!
