I never thought I'd see any hotter trend when it comes to beauty products than the 1994 release of Chanel's Vamp nail polish.
It was the color to have. So much so that it sold out - and then some. Fast forward to 2006, and Vamp-like polishes re-emerged, including another version last summer from Chanel called Black Satin. The trend continued through fall, with many celebs sporting short, short nails with cauldron-black polishes. Even usually colorful OPI offered its versions of after-hours colors, including Lincoln Park After Dark and Black Onyx.
So, here's the New Year's resolution for all us nail polish lovers: Make January the final month for polishing with witchy-woman hues. Come February - when all those spring colors will start hitting counters - we're switching to something a little less, say, somber.
Pinkie swear?
Until then, I hope you've had your fingers wrapped around a forkful of turnip greens and black-eyed peas today.
Happy New Year from 21Q!
