Building blocks

Need a new music fix? Check out Davis' own Buildings Breeding; the electronica-tinged indie pop band has a new CD in stores Tuesday.

The self-titled record, out on Mushpot Records, was mixed, in part, by Aaron Prellwitz (Sun kil moon, Hella) at John Vanderslicke's Tiny Telephone studio in San Francisco.

So far I've only heard a few of the band's songs on their MySpace page. But, hey, so far, so good - songs such as "Stars are Smitten" and "Emmawood" are pretty without being precious.

Buildings Breeding is planning a tour, as well as a stop at this year's South By Southwest in March.

Check 'em out.
