New Elk Grove Unified School District trustee Nancy Chaires Espinoza has resigned from the city’s Planning Commission where she had served since 2008.
In a letter to Elk Grove City Council Wednesday, Chaires thanked the council for the opportunity to serve the city and called on city leaders to continue to appoint an “increasingly representative group of women and men” to the planning panel.
Chaires had most recently served as the commission’s chairwoman and ran unsuccessfully in 2014 for Elk Grove City Council, losing to Steve Ly last fall. Chaires was appointed Monday to fill Ly’s seat on the school board.
