The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has released a composite sketch of the young man suspected of sexually assaulting a mother while she was pushing her child in a stroller late last month.

The attacker is described as a 14- to 20-year-old male weighing an estimated 130 pounds and standing roughly 5 feet 7 inches tall. Deputies said he sexually assaulted the woman on Jan. 27 as she was walking on a bike trail near Missouri Flat Road in Diamond Springs.

The assailant approached her from behind and asked for the location of a nearby business. He then asked the woman for a dollar and later asked to shake her hand, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The teen grabbed her hand, using the other to pull her in and sexually assault her. Law enforcement said the woman screamed for help and began to fight back until the man eventually apologized and fled. He left behind a shoe, which was collected as evidence.

The Sheriff’s Office said the teen had brown eyes and dark, messy hair that stood 2 to 3 inches in length. He was wearing a sky-blue short-sleeved polo-style shirt, blue jeans and red Nike shoes at the time of the assault.

The El Dorado Sheriff’s Office is viewing video surveillance from the area and is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information can reach Detective Anthony Prencipe at 530-642-4709.
