Placerville driver killed in 3-car collision after speeding through red light, CHP says

A driver died Tuesday in Placerville after he ran a red light and crossed lanes into oncoming traffic, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Logan Michael Lyman, 18, of Placerville was driving a 2002 Toyota southbound on Missouri Flat Road at about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the CHP’s Placerville office. Lyman was speeding and ran a red light at Golden Center Drive, according to the release.

As he ran the light, Lyman “allowed his vehicle to cross over into the northbound lanes,” according to the release. His car struck a Subaru and a Porsche.

Lyman died from his injuries at the scene, the release said. The drivers of the Subaru and the Porsche were not seriously injured, officials said.

Officers are still investigating the collision, including whether alcohol and/or drug use were factors, the CHP said.
