Mountain lion prompts lock down at El Dorado Hills school

A mountain lion in an El Dorado Hills business park prompted a brief lock down at a nearby elementary school Thursday morning.

A caller to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department reported spotting the animal lying in a field around 7:20 a.m. in a business park near Golden Hills School, which is on Suncast Lane in El Dorado Hills, officials said.

The mountain lion did not appear aggressive, but the school was locked down for 18 minutes while California Fish and Game workers and the county trapper were called to flush the wild animal out of the area with dogs, the sheriff’s department said in an e-mail.
