What: Bring your family and friends to Old Sacramento this Labor Day weekend for a free annual festival that turns the clock back to the Gold Rush. Costumed performers will entertain the crowds, while musicians perform on multiple stages. There will also be historic re-enactments, gold-panning, wagon rides, children’s activities, a country western dance party, outdoor movie showings and more.

Chalk-It-Up to Sacramento
When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday to Monday
Where: Fremont Park, 16th and Q streets, Sacramento
What: It’s an annual chalk art and music festival that benefits children’s art education and art activities in the Sacramento region. Children’s activities at the event are free.

Rainbow Festival
When: 12 to 6 p.m. Sunday
Where: 20th and K streets, Sacramento
What: The 29th annual Rainbow Festival celebrates LGBTQ pride with a lineup of entertainment featuring singers, DJs, speakers and more than 100 booths.

Sacramento Greek Festival
When: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday; noon to 11 p.m. Saturday; noon to 9 p.m. Sunday
Where: Sacramento Convention Center, 1400 J St.
What: The 53rd annual Sacramento Greek Festival is back with the culture, food, and traditions of Greece and Greek Americans. Volunteers will serve authentic and homemade Mediterranean food at this village-style and family-friendly festival experience.

Davis Labor Day Races

What: The 20th annual Golden Valley Harriers Labor Day Races celebrates a volunteer-organized race day that benefits local schools and other community programs.
