James Rollins of El Dorado Hills knows something about adventure – both firsthand and vicariously. On the personal level, the globe-trotting novelist is a scuba diver, cave explorer, hiker and traveler.

On the fiction front, he juggles several series, including the vampire trilogy “Order of the Sanguines” with co-author Rebecca Cantrell; the 10-title black-ops “Sigma Force”; and the five-title fantasy “Banned and the Banished,” writing as James Clemens.

“Blood Infernal,” the conclusion of the “Sanguines” trilogy, was published in February (William Morrow, $28, 416 pages) and is the Bee Book Club’s choice for July.

Rollins’ 2014 Sigma Force tale, “The Sixth Extinction,” debuted in paperback June 2 and immediately went to the New York Times best-seller list.

Rollins will appear for the Bee Book Club, in partnership with the Sacramento Public Library, at 6 p.m. July 16 at the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria, 828 I St., Sacramento. It’s a free event, but tickets are required and limited to two per person. They’re available now at Look for more details in the July 13 Explore section. Visit the author at
