In honor of National Doughnut Day, Thursday, Nov. 5, take note of a launch party for “Dying For a Donut” by Sacramento’s Cindy Sample.

The book (CreateSpace, $15, 286 pages) is the latest in her five-title “Dying” humorous mystery series starring soccer mom-amateur sleuth Laurel McKay. The book is set in Apple Hill.

The launch party is 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15 at Face in a Book, 4359 Town Square Blvd., El Dorado Hills, 916-941-9401.
