The comedy-drama film “Other People” - based in Sacramento - is coming to theaters Friday.

The film is written and directed by Chris Kelly, who is from Sacramento and writes for “Saturday Night Live.” He lives in New York.

The film premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival in January. It’s Kelly’s first feature film as a writer and diretor.

“Other People” stars Jesse Plemons, Molly Shannon, Bradley Whitford, Maude Apatow, Madisen Beaty, John Early, Zach Woods, J.J. Totah and June Squibb.

Here’s the plot: David, a 29-year-old gay man, is struggling comedy writer (played by Jesse Plemons) who, after breaking up with his boyfriend, returns home to Sacramento to help his sick mother, played by "SNL" alum Molly Shannon.
