Awake for winter: Tahoe bears not hibernating; one hits Heavenly slopes

Nevada wildlife officials say bears in the Tahoe Basin aren't hibernating due to the mild winter weather, and that instead the animals are looking out looking for food, and getting closer to people.

Skiers participating in a race saw a bear amble across the slopes and disappear into woods without incident at Heavenly Mountain Resort on Friday.
