Ford’s new Mustang Shelby GT350 has finally landed, and it’s every bit as good as we’d hoped.
While previous GT350s were built by Shelby American, this new one is a creation of Ford Motor Company’s own SVT division but still adheres to Carroll Shelby’s original idea - transforming a great every-day car into a dominant road racer.
The new GT350 makes its debut this week at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. The engine, which will make more than 500 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque in its final form, is billed as Ford’s most powerful naturally-aspirated V-8. It’s also the Blue Oval’s first with a 180-degree, flat-plane layout which gives it that distinctive sound.
