Video and gallery: Tibetan monks create colorful sand mandala in Placerville

This video by The Sacramento Bee’s Randy Pench shows Tibetan monks from the Gaden Shartse Monastery in Mundgod, India, working on a medicine Buddha sand mandala at the Cozmic Cafe in Placerville on Tuesday. One definition says a sand mandala is constructed as vehicle to generate compassion, realize the impermanence of reality, and a social/cosmic healing of the environment.
