If you’re not nice, coffee shop charges you more

It pays to be polite at one Virginia coffee shop where a worker in a humorous mood put up a sign saying that nice people would be charged less for coffee.

A sign outside CUPS advertises different costs for a cup of coffee depending on how courteous a customer is when ordering. That means customers can pay anything from $1.56 to $5. For example, a “small coffee” will be $5, “small coffee, please” will be $3 and “Hello, one small coffee please” will $1.75.

A post on the coffee shop’s Facebook page about a story appearing in the Daily Mail in London has gotten more than 211 shares.
