What: The annual Woodland Christmas Tree Lighting will include caroling, roasted chestnuts, hot cocoa and carriage rides. Canned food items will be collected for donation to the Woodland Food Closet.

Where: City Hall, 300 First St., and Heritage Plaza, 701 Main St., both in Woodland.
Cost: Free admission; $2 carriage rides or a donated canned food item (kids under 3 free)
What: The “I Got First Dibs” event will feature midcentury modern furniture and collectibles. The preview party (with a small auction) benefits the Arts and Business Council of Sacramento.

See the renovated third floor
What: Transport yourself to a time of gracious living and holiday festivities at the Governor’s Mansion. The home has been lavishly decorated in preparation for guided tours and storytelling. This might be the right time to visit the restored third floor, which only recently opened to the public.
When: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Dec. 14; last tour departs 4 p.m.

Cost: $4-$6, children 5 and under are free
Walk With a Doc
Stroll through Southside Park
What: This program gives you the opportunity to hear a 10-minute talk on health and then to join a local physician for a 30-minute walk. All you need is a pair of comfortable shoes. Host for the 1.46-mile walk will be Dr. Vanessa McGowan, UC Davis physical medicine and rehabilitation fellow.
When: 9-10 a.m., Saturday; registration at 8:30 a.m.

Harmonies in a holy site
What: Brighten your holiday season with one of the Music at Noon concerts, which since 2002 have been offered in the Byzantine-Romanesque sanctuary of Westminster Presbyterian Church. The setting alone is a treat. Bring a lunch and settle in. The Chanteuses Women’s Choir sings Wednesday. See the website for a schedule of other performances.
