Potluck: Food, wine for fun and benefits

Unlimited spaghetti

What: The Soroptimist International of Rancho Cordova conducts its third annual spaghetti feed with all-you-can-eat pasta, raffle and silent auction. The event benefits local women and girls.

Auburn Wine & Food Festival

What: The 11th annual Auburn Wine & Food Festival, featuring Placer County wines and food. It’s part of the PlacerGrown Week celebration.

When: 1-5 p.m. Saturday

Where: Downtown and Old Town Auburn

Cost: $35 general, food-only $20


Tasty Books event

What: The fifth in the Tasty Books series, which pairs a cookbook with a prix-fixe dinner. Attendees will sample versions of the Hakka cuisine, the food of Chinese nomads. Former Sunset magazine food editor Linda Lau Anusasananan, author of “The Hakka Cookbook,” will give a brief talk on Hakka cuisine’s unique aspects.

When: 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 16

Cost: for $75 per person/$115 per couple, includes signed copy of the cookbook


Food bank benefit

What: The Elk Grove Food Bank Services will be the beneficiary of the second annual For Kids Charity Bowling Tournament hosted by Oakland Raiders wide receiver Denarius Moore. Pizza and soft drink beverages included along with shoe rental and bowling. Last year the Food Bank distributed 800,000 pounds of food.
