Postcards from readers: Floating on the Danube through Budapest, Hungary

The photographer: Dave Gilliard of Newcastle

Behind the lens: A lone log floats down the Danube in front of one of the most beautiful buildings in Europe, the Hungarian Parliament in Budapest, Hungary, a few days after the historic 500-year flood on the Danube river. The photo was taken from the deck of the Scenic Pearl riverboat. High water and lock closures caused major disruption to riverboat traffic on the Danube throughout June.
